unlike the previous two reviews which i did a specific album I'm going to review A Skylit Drive(ASD) as a band, and instead review all their works.
ASD is by no means EDM like my previous reviews were. ASD is what most people would just call rock or screamo. It does have a name which is post hardcore. Post-hardcore mixes elements of rock and melodic singing with the screaming elements of screamo music. Post-hardcore, specifically ASD, i like because of the strong juxtaposition of the elements of each song.
Carry the Broken is the opening track of "Identity on Fire" It begins with a crowd like chant and proceeds off to the vocalist adding more. There isn't really any prolific instrumental work in my opinion but sets a great tone for the album and again shows the great difference that is the Post-Hardcore music. XO Skeleton is the first single from "Identity on Fire" and i throughly enjoyed listening to it. XO skeleton has some rather interesting lyrics which when actually looked over have a pretty good significance as well, making the lyrics a joy to listen to as well as the instrumentals.
Their Previous records, "Adelphia" and "Wires...and the Concept of Breathing" i found was also great. (for the curious Adelphia means brotherhood in greek) The "title" tune if you can call it that, "Children of Adelphia" opens with a solid screaming part and then Jagmin comes in with is high voice that makes the tune like many others by ASD a real ride to listen. The title track from "Wires" is also amazing with a great accompanying video. Not only is a song great to listen to for the lyrical quality but the video adds another layer to it and makes it so much better.
In short, Those of you who like screamo, and rock would probably love ASD go and check them out. I find them rather similar to Bulllet for My Valentine was well, so if you like BFMV check these guys out for sure.
